Smiles, smiles and more smiles

Chirstmas was so fun this year...Triston is at such a fun age. He finally gets the whole "Santa" thing, though it took til Christmas day to convince him Santa is real. Triston was basically grinning from ear to ear all day on Christmas. He really enjoyed watching other people open presents as well which surprised me. Since we aren't in Utah anymore I was sure we would have a very mild Christmas but boy was I wrong. Ten inches of snow of Christmas Eve it was so much fun. Triston can't get enough of the snow. Bridge was her usual self, sweet as can be and happy all day. However, Bridget has developed quite the bad habit. Now when we put her to bed if we don't rock her or hold her til she is sleeping she makes herself throw up in her bed!! It's absolutely crazy! She is not sick at all and never throws up any other time but she has learned that if she throws up we get her out of bed and have to clean her and all that and she loves the attention. We can literally hear her trying to gab herself it is nuts and if we run in to stop her she is all smiles. Ah!! If anyone has any advice on how to get her to stop I would LOVE to hear it. I am getting a little tired of cleaning sheets, bumper pads and blankets EVERY night.

Merry Christmas

Happy Holidays!

Our Elf Named Christmas

So my mom delivered a little package from the North Pole yesterday and it was our own personal Elf! I had never heard of The Elf of the Shelf but its our new favorite tradition. For those that haven't heard of it I will explain briefly. You get a book and a box with a little Elf doll in it. The book explains what you are supposed to do with your elf in a way that kids can understand. Basically the Elf watches the family and reports to Santa every night who has been naughty and who has been nice. The book explains that the Elf is not allowed to talk but he smiles when he is listening (he is always smiling). So every night your Elf moves to a different location in the house and in the morning the kids get to search for the Elf and his new hiding spot. The book tells you to name your Elf and explains that you can't touch him or he loses his magic. Triston named our Elf Christmas. :) On Christmas Eve your Elf flies back to Santa and stays there the rest of the year until Dec 1st of the next year. Triston thinks this is the most amazing thing ever. Not only is he being so good he claimed today, "Christmas is my best friend mom."! So hilarious. Sometimes when Triston goes to the bathroom or into another room I quickly move Christmas and Triston thinks this is so awesome. He has been leaving cookies for him around the house today as well, I am getting a little sick of cookies so I told him Elves love fruit too but he insists on leaving cookies for Christmas. If you have little kids this is such a fun tradition I would recommend to anyone! We love our new Elf friend Christmas and we are loving our very NICE boy Triston as well.

Trip to the Big D

One of my really good friends from jr high and high school is getting MARRIED!! She is currently living in Dallas and is trying to plan her wedding in Lubbock. She asked me to be her Maid of Honor and I am super excited to help plan her wedding. This past weekend she flew me down to Dallas to help her find a wedding dress since her mom was not able to go down. I was a little nervous leaving the kids home, ok I am not going to lie I was super nervous, but I thought it would be so much easier is they stayed home. I left Friday night and came home this morning and had a total blast! I forgot how easy it is to fly without kids! :) Laura and I spent ALL day Saturday traveling all over DFW trying on all sorts of beautiful wedding dresses. Laura's fiance took us out to some absolutely delicious restraunts! It was also so nice to go out to eat without trying to juggle kiddos. My friend lives in Uptown, my favorite part of Dallas, so we got to go to all sorts of neat little places. I missed the kiddos like crazy but they were so AWESOME for Quinn! They had a sleep over with my parents on Friday night and then hung out with Quinn yesterday and he had them both in bed sound asleep by 7pm...he is superdad. I came home today to a clean house and happy babes, it was WONDERFUL! I feel so rejuvenated after having a little time away to myself. It was pretty funny because when I got home today Quinn said, "Well, I don't know how you get everything done in the day, it was pretty exhausting. And...I realized you don't ever get to enjoy a meal." Haha I had to laugh at that. I think Quinn had a good time hanging out with the kids and I had a wonderful weekend away. Can't wait for the wedding!
